We have always been obsessed with light, but we also need the dark for a healthy well-rested life. We have seen this trend happening on Instagram already – people going dark, leaving the light marble and white on white in the dust.
Just as we need the darkness in order to see the stars in the night sky more clearly, the play of light is best portrayed in contrast to dark hues. It is all about celebrating the night by enjoying the mystery and beauty of the night. I am not saying that you should go all out black on black, but the time for all white walls, all white marble table tops and white Eames shell chairs is sooo over. Colours are making a huge comeback this year, not doubt about it. Go for the more subtle and darker dusty colours.
Try painting a couple of wall in your living room or go for half and half, light on top, darker on the bottom. Think velour, vintage golds and go a bit nuts, don’t go for the obvious, be bold.
Key words: Darker colours, vintage golds, dryed flowers (hyacints), black marble.
