It’s safe to say that both my friend Sheila and I had a blast exploring the southern coast of Sweden when we drove the new Audi A4 just before Christmas.
The initial plan was actually to do the 100km drive on bikes; luckily we changed our minds last minute, as the weather forecast was predicting strong winds on the south coast of Sweden. We were driving from Copenhagen to Ystad Saltsjöbad.
In ticked an email about a last minute test drive of the new Audi A4 and out were the bikes quicker than you can say “heated seats”. I have always had a weak spot for Audi’s cars, I think they are all extremely beautiful and the new A4 is no exception. The A4 is Audi’s best selling model in the very tough compact executive segment, so you can appreciate why the German manufacturer has put some serious development work into what goes underneath this new Audi A4.
The A4’s exterior styling is pretty conservative – no one is going to be offended or shocked by the way it appears. Although it’s a familiar look, a lot of work has gone into the bodywork and every line and crease is there to improve the aerodynamics of the car. But if you’re not impressed by the exterior, the interior will surely do the job. Immediately, and this is where I think Audi exceeds, the A4 feels and looks more premium than any other car I have driven in the same class. It’s crammed with tech and beautifully crafted.
Driving the new Audi A4 was a real pleasure and it’s always kind of an anti-climax delivering it back, taking the train back home.
