Designer Furniture from Cape Town landing in Copenhagen

In spring 2011 the Danish company Meubels, discovered an unique designer and carpenter in South Africa. Danny Saks is his name, and he has a workshop in Cape Town’s trendy furniture district, where he designs furniture inspired by the 50s, but with a modern twist. Meubels, in collaboration with Saha Sol, have now imported the furniture into Nova Møbler at Nørrebrogade. This is the first time that Danny Saks has exported his furniture from his workshop in South Africa, and he has been pretty busy since meeting the Danes that spring day.

I’m really impressed that such a Scandinavian expression has derived from a workshop in South Africa. Meubels also import other household objects from Cape Town, which support Fair Trade projects. For example the bowls of telephone wires, that are woven of poor women who are part of a project to become self-supporting.

Hi Jacob, I pass Nova Furniture on Nørrebrogade every day so I noticed that there was something new and exciting in the windows, and checked it out.
