INTERIORS SpringCure 2015

Spring Cure, Week 2: Living Room and Working Space

Sortering:

Now we are approaching weekend 2 in the Bungalow5 Spring Cure 2015, and if you have not already started, you can consider following my to-do list here.  You can also read my tips for decluttering here.

Decluttering:

– Take a look at your books. To me a real living room has many books, but they are all terrible dust collectors. Consider this: Is it a book you’ve read? Do you want to read it again sometime or use it as a reference or as inspiration? Is it a book you haven’t read? Will you ever read it? When?

– Take a look at binders and loose papers. Put everything that could usefully be saved as digital documents in plastic pockets divided in themes and get it scanned. If you don’t own a scanner, consider where you can borrow one and make a calendar appointment.

– Minimize the number of stuff on horizontal surfaces or gather them in small groups. In that way you have less to clean at all times.

– Consider each thing. Is it a thing that should be out in the open or can it be stored in a drawer if it’s something you cannot live without? Consider aesthetics as well as functionality. If you have a thing that you hate to look at, but need all the time, consider a change to something that is nice to look and practical at the same time.

– Prioritize the things you love. Keep only things you really love, and get rid of stuff that is just space-occupying dust collectors. Think small, but good – or even many good things – depending on how minimalistic an expression you prefer. Don’t think a few good things, and the rest is crap.

– Make a list of things you need. While you’re getting an overview of your stuff, make a list of things you need or need to replace because they are broken.

Cleaning:

– Clean the living room and work space. Remember floor panels, corners and vacuuming the sofa.

– Wipe off all lamps and picture frames.

– Vacuum clean your books with the soft part to the vacuum cleaner. Remove the books from the shelves and clean the shelves as well.

– Although you often vacuum clean your rugs – bring them outside in the (hopefully) nice weather and clean them in the old-fashioned way.

Have you considered the change you want in the living room or at your work space? I’m not quite sure yet, but I wonder if that have changed on Sunday?

Hello, I am in LOVE with your desk! Where did you purchase it? Or are you aware of how/where I could achieve a similar desk? Great post! I’ve just stumbled on your blog and I will definitely be staying a while (:
