Test: Siemens Thermo Kaffemaskine

Test: Siemens Thermo Coffeemaker

Sunday morning, and I’ve previously proclaimed that with my new Powermix Silent blender vowed to delicious morning smoothies, but now that Siemens asked if I would test their new breakfast series, I jumped on board! So, here is the first test in a series of 3 – Siemens Thermo Coffeemaker for 8 cups, TC86503, 1.099 kr.

The machine was unpacked, the filter inserted and coffee from a sample I got from some goodie bag were thrown in together with water for 8 cups (the coffee sample suggested 8 cups!). I do not know if I am a technical marvel and many would probably also say that I am a coffeemaker novice, but it still seemed fairly simple to get the machine in motion. The surprise was that I only 5 min. later stood in a kitchen filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee ready to drink.

The coffee is kept warm in a small thermo pot, and after 30 min. and it is time for cup No. 2, it is still hot, which of course is pretty much bonus – but now I am also pretty much done with coffee for the day!

The machine has also won the prestigious Red Dot Award for its design, and I can only agree. Although I am not huge fan of the design on coffee machines in general, this one is actually one of the nicest I’ve seen.

The verdict: It’s hard to find much negative about the machine, the speed, taste and appearance is all top notch in my book. The price could be discussed, and with my rare coffee drinking, then 1.099 is also a kind of money and if you are a latte lover like me, then you also need the warm skimmed milk, and that is a completely different device. Now I’ve been drinking instant coffee for many years and I will probably continue, as I only drink about 1 cup a week. But if I were to give a new coffee maker as a gift for my big coffee drinker loving father, then I could easily find myself wrapping up Siemens Thermo Coffee machine for Christmas – I throw 4 designer chairs after Siemens, catch!
