A modern luxury estate in an old stone envelope

The environmentally conscious architect office ZEST Architecture from Barcelona is behind this beautiful summer cottage called Villa CP in the Spanish Gavarres Mountains. Villa CP is the result of a restoration project from 2013, which created a top modern cottage in an old well-preserved outer stone structure. The heavy stonewalls have been rebuilt and reinforced and there are created huge openings in the walls, that connects the indoor and outdoor environment to perfection. The huge openings, connects the house to its spectacular surroundings; it is in fact bordered by a lush national park and has a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea.

For ZEST sustainability is a high priority and the villa is made out of natural materials and sustainable elements. Among other things the water in the swimming pool is filtered by plants and gravel, the house is insulated with locally harvested and manufactured cork and heating/cooling of the villa is through a geothermal installation.

Design and decor is in soft colors and natural materials and please take a look at the beautiful Danish-designed chairs standing around the dining table.

This is a magnificent example of a summer cottage, if you ask me.
