Allan’s Obsessions: My Favorites This Week

TGIF! I am giving my weekly obsessions a new name and moving it to Friday. It will continue to be furniture releases, great sales, cool podcasts and more. In addition, I am launching a new weekly updated playlist on Spotify with great songs that I enjoy at the moment, head over and follow along to get the new weekly playlist to get you through the week.

Two homes caught my eye this week, a loft in Chelsea, New York with amazing wooden columns and the other a soothing holiday home on the coast of Lorne, Australia. I’ve also got you covered with shoppable nourishing face UV protection and a few ideas you should add to get your balcony spring ready. In addition, I am sharing a new Danish design rocking chair that will soon be in production and some stunning white sheets to make you sleep even better.

Keep scrolling to see everything that caught my eye this week.

Minimalist Space

Located in the hip Chelsea neighborhood of New York City you’ll find this minimalist space designed by Worrell Yeung. The two raw wooden columns gives the open plan living room and kitchen space a great deal of character and is a perfect contrast to the grey terrazzo island in the middle of the room.

Swing Rocking Chair

Rocking Chairs might be one of the most overlooked pieces of furniture, but the truth is, that many of the great Danish midcentury designers actually created some pretty iconic models. Warm Nordic will soon release Hans Olesen’s timeless rocking chair with a beautiful weaved back designed in the 1950s. The simple airy pattern on the back together with the simple wooden frame gives the chair a very soft expression. The chair will be online to shop at some point later this summer.

Shooting Holiday Home

The simple and soothing shades makes this coastal holiday home feel like the perfect place to hide for the summer. The Mizu House by Lorne-based interior studio Georgina Jeffries asserts calm and cosiness through bespoke intervention. The custom timber and metal joinery really make this house standout.

Get Your Face Covered With A Great SPF Protection

Now that the days are getting longer and the sun is showing itself often, you might be spending time on your balcony or in you garden. It is recommended that you wear sunscreen every day. If you are looking for a great protection, you can find nourishing barrier options here:

Winter White

Inspired by the hues derived from the idea of a seasonal shift between winter and spring, and to celebrate brighter days to come, Tekla have finally introduced a new colorway of their amazing Organic-Cotton Percale: Winter White.

Need Something To Listen To?

As announced, I am launching a new weekly curated playlist with all the great songs that touched me one way or another. Some new, some classics. You can listen here and make sure to hit follow to get the new list every week.

Early Spring Balcony Update

It is still a little early to start planting outside- or at least here in Scandinavia. Give it a few weeks. However, nothing wrong with some early planning and a few new updates. A striped water-resilient pillow will make any deck chair feel extra cozy. Add a few new glazed pots to liven up your balcony.
