Happy New Year, guys! Sure, we are already well into 2019, but this is my first blogpost of the year, so seemed like the only right thing to say.
I know I teased with a trend report post as the first thing the other day on my Instagram, but it takes a bit longer than anticipated, so stay tuned. As always, the new year calls for reflections, and I had a lot of time to big thoughts during my long break, actually the longest break I have ever had in the almost 9 years this blog has existed, and while I have seen a downfall in readers throughout the years, I think more than ever, blogs will make a comeback in 2019. Why? Well, first of all, we can share much more great content and thoughts, which doesn’t disappear in a day, as is the case on Instagram. I am also hearing a lot of frustration about Instagram, especially about the algorithm, which has certainly taken its toll on many accounts.
Last year I actually only wrote 178, which is just only 3 post per week, but still 400.000 of you stopped by, so not too bad. I have a clear vision of posting 4 post per week this year. One thing I would also love, is to see a bit more engagement from you guys, especially here on the blog.
And while we are with the numbers, fun fact: the first couple of years, I posted 2 posts per day. Just saying! How I found the time, I don’t know, but I guess it was a bit easier, as I didn’t produce pictures by myself, Instagram wasn’t really a thing back in those “good” old days.
Anyway, so as I am approaching my 10th year blogging, I have no intention of slowing down, this blog will continue. In fact, I will be working on a lot more content that I produce myself i.e. video, home tours, and other cool projects, especially now when Instagram is really facing a lot of backslash with those low engagements, which we can’t control. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy Instagram, and I really enjoy those of you who I have DM conversations with – keep it up – but I also dislike the lack of control.
What else? Well, again, I want to produce more of my own content and get help creating it, especially when I can do it myself. I will strive to work only with brands and companies that fits this platform, and I think, I will try to limit my sponsored posts to maximum one per week, and then keep the rest my own unpaid work. I don’t want to sell out, I see a lot of content being produced by other bloggers and influencers, which is so far from what they would ever use, I might not have all the products I write about in my own home, but I still love and know the brand. Or at least, taken the time to get to know the brand before showing it on Bungalow5 – it has to be a perfect fit.
I will most definitely continue to create my weekly stuff on Sundays, you guys LOVE this one. My random links seems to get your attention every week. Keep it up. I would love to have other weekly returning posts, but truth it, I quickly find those kinds of posts boring, I like the randomness. What do you think?
I will also continue to travel, as always, I will visit Stockholm and Milan for the furniture design fairs, and I have a few other trips planned this spring also. On our trip to Bali, Mr. LA and I, made a plan that from now on, we will strive to visit countries that is not yet on everyone’s radar. Bali, for one, seemed very full of tourist and those local moments was hard to find.
With my travels, I will of course continue to share my experiences, but I want to keep Bungalow5 mostly about interior design, I know that’s what most of you guys comes for, but my travels do seem to get some attention, so don’t expect that to disappear anytime soon.
In my personal life, the question that I get the most, is when will you move to Los Angeles. And that is a question I cannot answer yet. Right now, we have sent of the application for my green card, and before that has been approved, I won’t make any proper decision, so for now, I’ll make the trip across the Atlantic every other month and stay for 3-4 weeks. And I plan to spend most of the summer in my LA office as well.
And there it is, the blog in 2019. I hope to see you all back and back again, reading, comment and liking even more this year. My life as a blogger seems to never end and is just one long rollercoaster, just as I think, nothing more exciting can come of this platform and new cool projects pops up, last year was designing a couch and a pair of sneakers, the year before writing a book, what’s 2019 going to bring.
Oh and one last thing, I want to bring back the newsletter, my monthly digest, so if you want it, sign up.
