Get your bookcase to pop

Very inspired by the Ilse Crawford apartment I shared last week, I spent most of the weekend rearranging my living room; moved some shelves, moved plants around and rearranged my bookcase.

I have displayed my books, art pieces and a lot of knick-knacks, so there is something for the eye everywhere. A bookshelf is just (and with good reason) all about the books, but it often just end up looking very messy I think. I pushed most of the books to the back, which made some room in front to display smaller fun items.

I grouped a lot of different items together, so it, in theory, doesn’t look too planned. It is often a good idea not to have an even number of items grouped together, go for three or fives when you add those vases or fun items. A remember to add some small prints or art pieces that will soften up the whole thing making the eyes explore even more, bring the smaller prints to the front and bigger ones to the back.

Now it is your turn. I encourage you to rearrange your bookcase – especially by adding some smaller items for it all to pop. Happy new week!

They are String Shelves – I hope that helps you locate them near you.

Looks great, I just got a new bookshelf and struggle with decorating without adding too much clutter… and with all those black thrillers my boyfriend owes. 😉

Thats where all those smaller fun things is good to add I think. Keep all those black books in the background and place personal items in the front. Go for it! Oh and congrats on the new bookshelf.
