Contrary to a lot of misconceptions, Dubai is not all just new construction, high-rise buildings and high-end hotels, even though it seems like most of the time. There is another part to this city, which shows another side of Dubai, the heart and soul of Dubai, known as Old Dubai.
Old Dubai mainly comprises of 2 parts, Deira and Bur Dubai, which are separated by the old and historically important Dubai creek. In my opinion visiting this part of town is an absolute must.
Walking through Bur Dubai you are lucky to pass many old mosques, all decorated in the most breath-taking manners. And on the north side of the creek you’ll find Deira, the home to Dubai’s chaotic souks.
My tip: Go either early or late. During the day, it is absolutely to warm to walk around. And do carry a bottle of water at all times.
