Italian Masters Of Wooden Contemporary Furniture

Last week I quickly stopped by Please Wait to be Seated’s showroom in Copenhagen. It is such a colorful and amazing space. PWTBS is a Danish design company founded in 2014 by interior photographer Thomas Ibsen. The idea was clear from the beginning – to build a design brand based on the passion for shapes, architecture and legacy of the great Danish design masters.

The colorful space is full of designs which all have the potential of becoming classics. Everything in the collection have its own characteristics with a focus on interaction, good craftsmanship, quality, materials and sustainability in terms of durable design.

One of the brands they represent is Italian Mattiazzi, a family owned producer of wooden furniture in Udine, Italy, which among contemporary furniture manufacturers are fairly unknown. Completely without reason, their work with wood is beyond most others. Most of their pieces are compact, minimal and sculpted, like their collection by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who is also responsible for the blue art work on the wall.
