The shorter and very dark days we have right now can easily be very depressing, but you know what, try to focus on the positive things instead – like, in less than a month, it will turn, and the days will only grow longer each day.
I believe it also helps with the winter depression, if you surround yourself with great design – and what better than a wall clock designed by Arne Jacobsen. I have always been in awe of the midcentury designers, especially now after going through designing furniture myself, the amount of products they designed is just astounding. Arne created this wall clock, called Bankers, for the Danish national bank in 1971 as part of a greater restoration. As always with Arne, he would design all parts when he took on a project, that’s also why we keep seeing new products being relaunched all the time.
Although most of us keep track of time with our smartphones, there is something rather unique and peaceful about having a proper clock on the wall, I think. In fact, I also hate that I have to run my entire life through the phone, so the easier I can make my every day without constantly having to pull out my phone, the better.
I really like this new updated black version brought back by Arne Jacobsen Clocks. The original was actually with a white background, but for my interior, the black version is just even more perfect. It comes in two sizes and makes a perfect Christmas present, so you might want to add it to that wish list before they go out to the family.
