Kitchen of the Week: A Modern Scandi Oak Design in Oslo

It is always intriguing when renowned fashion designers open up their homes. Maria Skappel and Andreas Holzweiler are the founders of an exclusive fashion brand full of premium materials and classic design traditions, which really stands out. So, it was no surprise that their natural and elegant style would also appear in their kitchen.

To the family of five the kitchen is the most important room – and it shows. It is the perfect setup for lots of cooking and gathering around the dining table with the stunning sculptural light fixture.

The original interior was a traditional peasant style, but the family felt they needed a more timeless, modern and Scandinavian style with warm, natural tones with tactile elements. They hired interior architect Sigrid Aalstad to step in and create their dream kitchen. Walls between the living room and kitchen was removed, creating a bright multifunctional kitchen where the star attraction is now a stunning oak Multiform kitchen.

The special design Multiform bench by the window has also become the perfect hangout spot for the family. It is where the family eat their breakfast and where the kids do their homework while Maria and Andreas cooks. It is where Maria sits to sketch new designs with a cup of coffee.

The smoked oak herringbone floor connects the living room and kitchen perfectly. Don’t you think?
