Happy Monday. Another hot one here in Copenhagen, perfect warm-up for my upcoming summer in LA, 2 more weeks and I’ll be packing for two months in the city of angles. Last summer I made a weekly trip to Malibu, which is just a 30 min. drive from my house. Amazing drive up the coast on PCH with open windows and a cute summer track playing.
On my drives, I would pass the former, run-down motor lodge, which for the past year has undergone extensive remodeling and just recently reopened as a beautiful coastal hotel. Overlooking the ocean and just across the Malibu Farm and Japanese-influenced Nobu, the Surfrider hotel has emerged.
The Surfrider hotel team overhauled the tired interiors to create light, fresh spaces across its 18 rooms and two suites, library, guest-only rooftop bar, and restaurant. The simple color and material palette brings your thoughts to “Scandi meets LA beach”, I just love the mix of pale woods and beige linen upholstery.
And ps. all the bedrooms have access to a sea view balcony, with hammocks included for those on the upper level. Only downside, you are very close to PCH, so do expect a bit of road noise, but with interior like this, who cares right?
