The End of All-White Kitchens

After yesterday’s social media free evening courtesy of Instagram. Apparently, the app was down more of less all night, but nevertheless I still got a very good response to my question “which color is your dream kitchen?” – I will come back to the answer in just a second – the reason for the question was because I went to see the newly launched Kvänum kitchen designed by Louise Liljencrantz.

The new kitchen draws inspiration from both Japan and British Victorian, think Downtown Abbey, with lots of warm wooden notes and sensual stone materials, and needless to say, I love it. I was also introduced to the rest of the Kvänum universe, which really evoke my dreams about a bigger and bolder kitchen, one with lot of space to move around and cook like there was no tomorrow. Mr. LA and I, have been talking a dark blue kitchen, which I am sure will happen.

But, back to the question about your dream color. Not one wrote white…. Not a single person! I can’t say that I am surprise, maybe a little bit, but it really warms my heart, as there is almost nothing more boring than an all-white kitchen. Finally, it seems like those days are over. Let’s make a deal, if any of us are doing a kitchen remodel, none of us can install a white kitchen, ok?

I know, it is so stunning. It is called almond and from Kvänum’s own color range.

I don’t like the dark cabinets. I guess if I start seeing them a lot I’ll get use to them. The other lighter colors I do like. I’m a child of the 50s and 60s. My mother had a pink kitchen and a yellow one that I remember.

Indeed. I think we have just grown accustomed to the all-white. It is time for spicing up the kitchens with some color.
