New year. New collections. It is certainly time where brands are sharing all the new collections they have been working for months, maybe even years, with us all. Soon we will all venture of to design fair around Europe to see them all up close. Luckily, I get sneak peeks prior to the real launches, so I can share them all with you. So, yay us!
First up is &traditions relaunch of some of Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen’s pieces. We already saw the first prototypes in Milan last year, and just before Christmas, the final products was ready to be shared with the world. The design duo started designing furniture in the early 1940s after they met at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. And now, many decades later, &tradition is introducing a six-piece series of reissued Hvidt & Mølgaard designs.
The collection includes the elegant and hand-crafted Drawn chair which boasts a solid oak or walnut form and a paper cord seat woven by hand through hours of dedicated manual labor; the Drop Leaf foldable table, which melds practicality with a soft aesthetic characterized by delicate, curved wooden frames; the Boomerang lounge chair, boasting a hand-polished wooden frame that echoes a pleasing L-shaped symmetry; the slim and shapely Pinwheel table, with a playful and geometric shape and designed to be creatively refashioned to suit all sorts of living arrangements; and the Tripod floor lamp, built from lacquered steel with brass details and marked by a precise and simple look, which will be produced for the first time ever.
The entire collection will be available to buy in February.
